The WPPI Experience

When I booked my ticket to WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International), I quite honestly had no idea what to expect. But, a week at the world's largest photography conference with my three best friends in Vegas was bound to be a good time.

Roxane (of Roxane Elise Makeup Artistry & -my super stellar makeup artist), Scott Barber (of Totem Imagery) & Yuliya Rae (of Zipperature and I all shared a two bedroom suite at the Worldmark. The hotel was fantastic, relaxing and thankfully still close to the strip. Staying there was a dream come true. I seriously could have spent every day by the pool.

But unfortunately, there was a lot of work to be done. From the second you walk into the Convention Center, you were instantly surrounded by thousands of photographers who were there wanting to improve their craft. Everywhere you looked there was inspiration to be found and learning opportunities to be had. I spent the entire conference just buzzing with excitement.

I attended six classes, the print competition, and the expo. I also had the wonderful opportunity to have my portfolio reviewed by the amazing Bambi Cantrell. She provided some great tips on how to better display my work and how to take my posing to the next level. After all that hard work, thankfully, there was still a little time to squeeze in some silliness. Afterall, who sleeps in Vegas...

My favorite class was Jen Rozenbaum's How to make every woman look amazing, closely followed by Kenny Kim's Effective Strategies for Destination Wedding Photographers. The print competition was incredibly inspirational to see what other photographers were creating and it provided great insight into how I can add more artistic elements to my images. The Expo was massive! Anything a photographer could ever need or want was there. I was fortunate enough to be able to try a Sigma 35mm Art lens, which I am obsessed with. I purchased the Moneymaker from Holdfast and I won a lens flipper. This gear lover couldn't be happier.

Overall, I could not have imagined a better experience. I will definitely be going back.
